Att göra rätt från grunden i din rabatt är nog så viktigt i valet av jorden dina växter ska etablera, växa och leva i. Du kan lägga en förmögehnet på växter som planteras men är jorden full av ogräs så kommer du och dina växter få kämpa för att få en god start.
Välj en rotogräsfri jord om du ska anlägga en helt ny rabatt där du måste tillföra jord. Harpad matjord är det vanligaste vi beställer och lägger i våra rabatter men nej, låt bli denna tickande ogräsbomb snälla! Undvik även helst billig påsjord då denna mest innehåller luftig torv och saknar en god struktur.
Ska du renovera befintlig rabatt kan du jordförbättra med exempelvis kogödsel för att få igång jorden och skapa goda förutsättningar.
Rätt växt på rätt plats!
Själv jobbar jag mest med växter som inte är så kinkiga och alltför krävande då jag gillar lättodlade rabatter som ger ett snabbt resultat. Då behöver jag ha koll på vilka växter som trivs var och tillsammans med vilka utifrån behov av ljus, vatten, näring, jord och yta att växa på. Har du en solig och torr rabatt så kommer skuggväxter inte att klara sig hur mycket du än önskar den speciella växten på denna platsen.

Ofta får jag en bild framför mig när jag ser platsen som ska skapas och börjar likt en konstnär dra penseln med de växter jag önskar plantera.
I denna stora rabatten kan ni se att jag har valt några få sorters buskar som jag använt som stommen i planteringen och sedan jobbat med perenner runt buskarna. Bollformade havtornet ´Hikul´ ger rabatten struktor och hortensiorna med sitt vita flor under sensommaren får alla färger att poppa lite extra då de blir en fin kontrast mot färgerna från perennerna i purpur och de mörkbladiga höstsilveraxen.
Vart placerar jag de olika växterna?
I denna slänt har jag utgått från att jag vill ha det högt i bakkant och lägre fram för att skapa ett maffigt intryck och känslan av att alla växter får ta plats och synas. Ovansidan av rabatten får även en rumskänsla då rabatten skapar en avgränsning. Här behöver du ha koll på hur höga växterna slutgiltligen blir som du väljer att plantera.
